Fire-Resistant Glass
Integrity and insulating fire glass supplied and fitted into tested frames.
Learn more →For Washington buildings, we supply, replace and check insulated fire glass wherever the fire strategy depends on it, working to the tested system rather than the glass alone.

EI glass is the choice where people need to pass close to the glass during a fire, where combustible materials sit near it, or where building guidance would otherwise restrict glazing. We supply and fit EI 30 to EI 120 glass in tested frames, internally and externally.
After survey you get a fixed written quote for the agreed scope, so Washington budgets are not open-ended.
If an existing frame in a Washington building has no traceable evidence, we say so and price the options rather than guess.
Every quote in Washington identifies the tested system: frame, glass, beads, seals and fixings, within its pane-size limits.
Some EI products are internal only. External use needs a product and edge seal approved for UV and weather.
Modern EI glass is clear in normal use, with high light transmission at lower ratings.
Each step up in rating adds layers, so EI 120 is far thicker and heavier than EI 30. The frame has to be designed for it.
Our Tyne and Wear coverage takes in Washington (NE37, NE38) and the neighbouring towns of Chester-le-Street, Felling, Houghton-le-Spring. Newcastle upon Tyne, around 10 km from Washington, is the largest town in the same coverage area.
Building work in England is covered by the Building Regulations 2010, with fire safety guidance in Approved Document B and impact safety guidance for glazing in Approved Document K.
Once a building is in use, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person to maintain fire safety measures, including fire-resisting glazing. The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 add duties for multi-occupied residential buildings, including fire door checks in buildings over 11 metres.
In higher-risk buildings, broadly 18 metres or seven storeys with two or more homes, the Building Safety Regulator is the building control authority. England is also phasing out BS 476 references from Approved Document B, with the remaining fire-resistance references due to go in September 2029.
Sector guides below cover blocks of flats, public buildings and other buildings in Washington.
Only products approved for external use, usually in a sealed unit with UV protection.
Yes. Once the interlayers have reacted, the glass has done its job and must be replaced.
We can give a guide range from photos and sizes, including a clear photo of any marks on the glass. A fixed price follows a survey.
