Fire-Rated Glazed Screens
Internal glazed screens that keep compartments and corridors protected.
Learn more →Steel fire-rated screens use steel frame sections to hold fire-resistant glass, and they are the usual choice when a project needs slim sightlines with a high rating, large panes or heavy insulating glass. Steel keeps its strength well in fire and can carry the weight of thick EI glass over long spans.

We supply and install tested steel screen systems in black, RAL colours and industrial finishes, including the gridded warehouse look, with integrated single and double doors. Each screen is drawn up within its system evidence so the appearance does not come at the cost of the rating.
Steel profiles stay slim at higher ratings and carry heavy glass without bulky frames, which suits stair cores, lobbies and offices where light matters.
Decorative steel-look aluminium or slim steel partitions sold for offices are not automatically fire-rated. We only fit systems with test or assessment evidence for the classification you need.
Paint and powder coat are normally covered by the evidence, but intumescent strips and seals must not be painted over. We protect them during finishing.
Where steel glazing forms an external wall, thermal performance and condensation need designing in as well as the fire rating.
Steel screens with insulating glass are heavy. Fixings are taken from the system details and the substrate is checked to carry the load.
Steel systems are fabricated to measure, so allow for survey, drawings, approval and fabrication before the fit date.
Steel screens typically £800–£1,400/m² supplied and installed, depending on rating and glass, excluding VAT. Prices depend on the rating, pane sizes, frame system, access and programme. Use the guide price tool for a range, or see all guide prices.
Some steel systems with that look are tested for fire, many decorative ones are not. Ask for the classification and test evidence; we only quote tested systems for fire-rated positions.
Most steel fire screens can be powder-coated to a wide range of RAL colours, with black and anthracite the most requested.
Yes. Single, double and in some systems sliding doors can be built into the screen, provided the combination is covered by the evidence.
Often slightly, especially at higher ratings, but steel can be the more economical route when panes are large or the rating is EI 60 and above.
