Glazed over-panels, side lights and borrowed lights around fire doors.
Learn more →For Washington buildings, we supply, replace and check timber fire-rated screens wherever the fire strategy depends on it, working to the tested system rather than the glass alone.

The rating depends on the timber species and density, frame sections, bead profiles, fixings and the glazing seals used in the test. We build timber screens to a tested specification, or to a formal assessment, and finish them without compromising the intumescent details.
Paint and stain are fine on the timber, but intumescent seals must stay clear of paint. We mask them during finishing.
Bead profile, height and fixing type and spacing are all taken from the test. Short-cutting the fixings is a common reason screens fail inspection.
Timber suits listed and older buildings, and existing screens can sometimes be upgraded with new glass and seals, subject to an assessment of the frame.
We cover Washington and the surrounding postcode districts, including NE37, NE38. Nearby towns we also serve include Chester-le-Street, Felling, Houghton-le-Spring. Newcastle upon Tyne, around 10 km from Washington, is the largest town in the same coverage area.
You receive the classification references, glass marks and installation photographs for your fire safety records.
After survey you get a fixed written quote for the agreed scope, so Washington budgets are not open-ended.
If an existing frame in a Washington building has no traceable evidence, we say so and price the options rather than guess.
Building work in England is covered by the Building Regulations 2010, with fire safety guidance in Approved Document B and impact safety guidance for glazing in Approved Document K.
Once a building is in use, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person to maintain fire safety measures, including fire-resisting glazing. The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 add duties for multi-occupied residential buildings, including fire door checks in buildings over 11 metres.
We can survey and quote for care homes, retail and leisure units and other building types in Washington.
Sometimes. If the frame can be shown to be suitable, we can replace non-rated glass and add the correct seals and beads. Where it cannot, replacement is the honest answer.
Dense hardwoods are typical; the exact species depends on the tested specification. We confirm species and density on the drawings.
We can give a guide range from photos and sizes, including a clear photo of any marks on the glass. A fixed price follows a survey.
