Learn more →For Hove buildings, we supply, replace and check timber fire-rated screens wherever the fire strategy depends on it, working to the tested system rather than the glass alone.

The rating depends on the timber species and density, frame sections, bead profiles, fixings and the glazing seals used in the test. We build timber screens to a tested specification, or to a formal assessment, and finish them without compromising the intumescent details.
Bead profile, height and fixing type and spacing are all taken from the test. Short-cutting the fixings is a common reason screens fail inspection.
Timber suits listed and older buildings, and existing screens can sometimes be upgraded with new glass and seals, subject to an assessment of the frame.
Heavier insulating glass may need larger sections; we confirm the frame can carry the chosen build-up.
Our East Sussex coverage takes in Hove (BN3, BN88, BN50, BN41, BN1) and the neighbouring towns of Brighton, Portslade, Burgess Hill. Hove lies roughly 2 km from Brighton, within our East Sussex coverage.
After survey you get a fixed written quote for the agreed scope, so Hove budgets are not open-ended.
Designs follow the building and fire safety rules that apply in England, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Every quote in Hove identifies the tested system: frame, glass, beads, seals and fixings, within its pane-size limits.
Building work in England is covered by the Building Regulations 2010, with fire safety guidance in Approved Document B and impact safety guidance for glazing in Approved Document K.
Once a building is in use, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person to maintain fire safety measures, including fire-resisting glazing. The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 add duties for multi-occupied residential buildings, including fire door checks in buildings over 11 metres.
Sector guides below cover schools and colleges, healthcare buildings and other buildings in Hove.
Sometimes. If the frame can be shown to be suitable, we can replace non-rated glass and add the correct seals and beads. Where it cannot, replacement is the honest answer.
