Insulated Fire Glass (EI)
EI 30 to EI 120 glass that blocks heat as well as flames.

A fire-rated glass floor is a walk-on glazed floor panel, set in a tested support frame, that keeps both its load-bearing capacity and its fire resistance for a stated time. Because a floor carries load, its classification also includes R for load-bearing capacity alongside integrity and insulation.
Survey visits can be arranged anywhere in Didcot, including the OX11, OX14 districts, and in nearby Abingdon, Oxford, Thatcham. Didcot lies roughly 16 km from Oxford, within our Oxfordshire coverage.
A glass floor must carry its design load during the fire period. Only systems tested for both should be used.
Walk-on glass needs an anti-slip finish; it must be one covered by the system.
Tested floor panels have maximum spans. Larger openings are divided by a supporting grid.
Building work in England is covered by the Building Regulations 2010, with fire safety guidance in Approved Document B and impact safety guidance for glazing in Approved Document K.
Once a building is in use, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person to maintain fire safety measures, including fire-resisting glazing. The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 add duties for multi-occupied residential buildings, including fire door checks in buildings over 11 metres.
In higher-risk buildings, broadly 18 metres or seven storeys with two or more homes, the Building Safety Regulator is the building control authority. England is also phasing out BS 476 references from Approved Document B, with the remaining fire-resistance references due to go in September 2029.
After survey you get a fixed written quote for the agreed scope, so Didcot budgets are not open-ended.
Every quote in Didcot identifies the tested system: frame, glass, beads, seals and fixings, within its pane-size limits.
If an existing frame in a Didcot building has no traceable evidence, we say so and price the options rather than guess.
We can survey and quote for offices, hotels and other building types in Didcot.
Yes, using specialist tested systems that cover load-bearing capacity as well as integrity and insulation.
R is load-bearing capacity, E is integrity and I is insulation. A floor needs R because it carries people and loads.
We can give a guide range from photos and sizes, including a clear photo of any marks on the glass. A fixed price follows a survey.
Yes. We plan phasing, out-of-hours work and temporary protection so the building can stay in use where the fire strategy allows.
