Fire-Resistant Glass
Integrity and insulating fire glass supplied and fitted into tested frames.
Learn more →For Edinburgh buildings, we supply, replace and check insulated fire glass wherever the fire strategy depends on it, working to the tested system rather than the glass alone.

EI glass is the choice where people need to pass close to the glass during a fire, where combustible materials sit near it, or where building guidance would otherwise restrict glazing. We supply and fit EI 30 to EI 120 glass in tested frames, internally and externally.
Each step up in rating adds layers, so EI 120 is far thicker and heavier than EI 30. The frame has to be designed for it.
When heated, the interlayers turn opaque and expand, forming an insulating shield. After a fire the glass will need replacing.
Insulating fire glass should be stored dry, upright and away from direct sun before fitting.
We cover Edinburgh and the surrounding postcode districts, including EH1, EH2, EH3, EH7, EH9, EH6. Nearby towns we also serve include Musselburgh, Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline. Edinburgh is the largest town in our Edinburgh and the Lothians coverage.
We can phase work in Edinburgh around residents, staff or pupils, with out-of-hours options.
If an existing frame in a Edinburgh building has no traceable evidence, we say so and price the options rather than guess.
After survey you get a fixed written quote for the agreed scope, so Edinburgh budgets are not open-ended.
In Scotland, building work needs a building warrant under the Building (Scotland) Regulations 2004, with fire guidance in Section 2 of the Building Standards Technical Handbooks rather than Approved Documents.
For relevant premises, the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006 place duties on the duty holder to maintain fire safety measures, which include fire-resisting glazing.
Scottish guidance has its own approach to escape routes and compartmentation, so glazing designs are checked against the Technical Handbooks and the warrant drawings.
Sector guides below cover offices, healthcare buildings and other buildings in Edinburgh.
The glazing system kept fire on one side (integrity) and limited the temperature rise on the other side (insulation) for at least 60 minutes in a standard fire test.
It is a multi-layer product with specialist interlayers, and the frame and installation must suit its weight.
We can give a guide range from photos and sizes, including a clear photo of any marks on the glass. A fixed price follows a survey.
