Integrity Fire Glass (E & EW) by town in West Midlands

Across West Midlands we can survey in Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Walsall and every district in the B, WV, WS, DY postcode areas.

What our integrity fire glass service includes in West Midlands

Integrity fire glass, classified E, stops flames and hot gases passing for the rated time but does not limit the heat coming through. EW glass adds a cap on the heat radiated through the glass. Both are thinner, lighter and cheaper than fully insulated glass.

  • Modified toughened integrity glass
  • Impact-classified integrity options
  • Matched beads and seals

What to check before ordering in West Midlands

Not insulating

E glass gets hot in a fire. Furniture or stored materials beside it can ignite from radiated heat.

Cost advantage

Integrity glass costs a fraction of insulated glass and fits slimmer frames, which is why specifying it correctly matters.

Where integrity glass fits

Integrity-only glass may be acceptable in some fire-resisting partitions, screens and doors, often at high level, within the limits national guidance sets. Compartment walls normally need insulating (EI) glazing.

England rules for fire glazing

England Which rules apply?

Building work in England is covered by the Building Regulations 2010, with fire safety guidance in Approved Document B and impact safety guidance for glazing in Approved Document K.

Once a building is in use, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person to maintain fire safety measures, including fire-resisting glazing. The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 add duties for multi-occupied residential buildings, including fire door checks in buildings over 11 metres.

In higher-risk buildings, broadly 18 metres or seven storeys with two or more homes, the Building Safety Regulator is the building control authority. England is also phasing out BS 476 references from Approved Document B, with the remaining fire-resistance references due to go in September 2029.

Is integrity glass cheaper?

Yes, considerably, and it is thinner and lighter.

In limited amounts and positions. Building guidance sets the rules; insulating glass is used where those limits are exceeded.
