Fire-Resistant Glass
Integrity and insulating fire glass supplied and fitted into tested frames.
Learn more →For Preston buildings, we supply, replace and check integrity fire glass wherever the fire strategy depends on it, working to the tested system rather than the glass alone.
Tell us what you need. We reply with next steps and a guide price.
We supply and fit integrity glass in screens, doors, vision panels and windows where the fire strategy allows it, and upgrade to EW or EI where it does not. Choosing correctly between E, EW and EI is where most of the cost on a project is decided.
EW glass limits radiation to 15 kW/m² measured one metre from the glass, reducing the risk of igniting materials or harming people nearby.
Building guidance restricts how much integrity-only glass can be used on protected escape routes and where it can sit. Check the route before choosing E glass.
Integrity-only glass may be acceptable in some fire-resisting partitions, screens and doors, often at high level, within the limits national guidance sets. Compartment walls normally need insulating (EI) glazing.
Building work in England is covered by the Building Regulations 2010, with fire safety guidance in Approved Document B and impact safety guidance for glazing in Approved Document K.
Once a building is in use, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person to maintain fire safety measures, including fire-resisting glazing. The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 add duties for multi-occupied residential buildings, including fire door checks in buildings over 11 metres.
Whether the building is in central Preston or the wider PR1, PR0, PR2 districts, we can survey and quote. We also cover Leyland, Chorley, Blackburn. Preston is the main town we cover in Lancashire.
Designs follow the building and fire safety rules that apply in England, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
After survey you get a fixed written quote for the agreed scope, so Preston budgets are not open-ended.
Every quote in Preston identifies the tested system: frame, glass, beads, seals and fixings, within its pane-size limits.
We can survey and quote for offices, retail and leisure units and other building types in Preston.
Glass that stops flames and hot gases for the rated time but lets heat through. It is classified E.
In limited amounts and positions. Building guidance sets the rules; insulating glass is used where those limits are exceeded.
We can give a guide range from photos and sizes, including a clear photo of any marks on the glass. A fixed price follows a survey.
Yes. We plan phasing, out-of-hours work and temporary protection so the building can stay in use where the fire strategy allows.
