Fire-Rated Curtain Walling
Facade glazing tested for fire where boundaries or compartments demand it.
Learn more →For Reading buildings, we supply, replace and check fire-rated windows wherever the fire strategy depends on it, working to the tested system rather than the glass alone.
Tell us what you need. We reply with next steps and a guide price.
Most fire-rated windows are fixed lights, because opening windows need the opening sash, hinges and locks to be tested too. We supply and install fixed and, where tested, opening fire-rated windows in steel, aluminium and timber, matched to the surrounding windows where possible.
We cover Reading and the surrounding postcode districts, including RG1, RG4, RG30, RG6, RG2. Nearby towns we also serve include Earley, Wokingham, Crowthorne. Reading is the largest town in our Berkshire coverage.
Rated windows can usually be finished to match the rest of the elevation.
If a fire-rated window cannot open, ventilation may need another route. We coordinate with the designer.
Replacing a non-rated window near a boundary is often triggered by an extension or change of use. We survey the opening before quoting.
Building work in England is covered by the Building Regulations 2010, with fire safety guidance in Approved Document B and impact safety guidance for glazing in Approved Document K.
Once a building is in use, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person to maintain fire safety measures, including fire-resisting glazing. The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 add duties for multi-occupied residential buildings, including fire door checks in buildings over 11 metres.
Designs follow the building and fire safety rules that apply in England, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Yes. We plan phasing, out-of-hours work and temporary protection so the building can stay in use where the fire strategy allows.
