Glazed over-panels, side lights and borrowed lights around fire doors.
Learn more →From the CF42 district outwards, we arrange timber fire-rated screens for buildings across Rhondda, matching glass, frames and seals to tested evidence rather than guesswork.
Tell us what you need. We reply with next steps and a guide price.
The rating depends on the timber species and density, frame sections, bead profiles, fixings and the glazing seals used in the test. We build timber screens to a tested specification, or to a formal assessment, and finish them without compromising the intumescent details.
Paint and stain are fine on the timber, but intumescent seals must stay clear of paint. We mask them during finishing.
Heavier insulating glass may need larger sections; we confirm the frame can carry the chosen build-up.
Timber suits listed and older buildings, and existing screens can sometimes be upgraded with new glass and seals, subject to an assessment of the frame.
Whether the building is in central Rhondda or the wider CF42, CF43, CF41, CF40 districts, we can survey and quote. We also cover Tonypandy, Aberdare, Pontypridd. Rhondda is the main town we cover in Mid Glamorgan.
If an existing frame in a Rhondda building has no traceable evidence, we say so and price the options rather than guess.
Every quote in Rhondda identifies the tested system: frame, glass, beads, seals and fixings, within its pane-size limits.
You receive the classification references, glass marks and installation photographs for your fire safety records.
Building regulations are devolved in Wales, so fire safety design follows the Welsh Ministers' version of Approved Document B rather than the English one, alongside impact safety guidance for glazing.
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 applies in Wales, so the responsible person must maintain fire-resisting glazing as part of the premises' fire safety measures. The Fire Safety Act 2021 confirmed this extends to the structure, external walls and flat entrance doors of multi-occupied residential buildings.
We can survey and quote for blocks of flats, public buildings and other building types in Rhondda.
Dense hardwoods are typical; the exact species depends on the tested specification. We confirm species and density on the drawings.
Sometimes. If the frame can be shown to be suitable, we can replace non-rated glass and add the correct seals and beads. Where it cannot, replacement is the honest answer.
Yes. We plan phasing, out-of-hours work and temporary protection so the building can stay in use where the fire strategy allows.
Survey timing in Rhondda depends on access, the size of the building and how urgent the defect is. Tell us your deadline when you enquire and we will confirm a date before you commit.
