Fanlights, Side Panels & Borrowed Lights
Glazed over-panels, side lights and borrowed lights around fire doors.
Learn more →For Bow buildings, we supply, replace and check timber fire-rated screens wherever the fire strategy depends on it, working to the tested system rather than the glass alone.
Tell us what you need. We reply with next steps and a guide price.
Timber fire-rated screens are glazed partitions made with hardwood frames, glazing beads and intumescent seals that have been tested together to resist fire. They are common in schools, healthcare, heritage buildings and residential blocks where a warmer finish is wanted.
Timber screens are tested with specific species and minimum densities. Softwood substitutions or thinner sections can fall outside the evidence.
Timber frames need dry conditions on site and acclimatisation before glazing to avoid movement around the glass.
Heavier insulating glass may need larger sections; we confirm the frame can carry the chosen build-up.
Whether the building is in central Bow or the wider E3, E15, E9, E14, E20, E13 districts, we can survey and quote. We also cover Stratford, Canary Wharf, Canning Town. We cover Bow as part of our Greater London coverage.
After survey you get a fixed written quote for the agreed scope, so Bow budgets are not open-ended.
You receive the classification references, glass marks and installation photographs for your fire safety records.
If an existing frame in a Bow building has no traceable evidence, we say so and price the options rather than guess.
Building work in England is covered by the Building Regulations 2010, with fire safety guidance in Approved Document B and impact safety guidance for glazing in Approved Document K.
Once a building is in use, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person to maintain fire safety measures, including fire-resisting glazing. The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 add duties for multi-occupied residential buildings, including fire door checks in buildings over 11 metres.
In higher-risk buildings, broadly 18 metres or seven storeys with two or more homes, the Building Safety Regulator is the building control authority. England is also phasing out BS 476 references from Approved Document B, with the remaining fire-resistance references due to go in September 2029.
Sector guides below cover student accommodation, offices and other buildings in Bow.
Sometimes. If the frame can be shown to be suitable, we can replace non-rated glass and add the correct seals and beads. Where it cannot, replacement is the honest answer.
Dense hardwoods are typical; the exact species depends on the tested specification. We confirm species and density on the drawings.
Yes. We survey and install in Bow and across Greater London, including the E3 district and nearby Stratford.
We can give a guide range from photos and sizes, including a clear photo of any marks on the glass. A fixed price follows a survey.
