  • Gridded industrial-style layouts
  • Integrity and insulating glass up to EI 120 where the system allows
  • Powder-coated RAL finishes

Whether the building is in central Peterborough or the wider PE1, PE2, PE3, PE4 districts, we can survey and quote. We also cover Stamford, March, Spalding. Peterborough is the largest town in our Cambridgeshire coverage.

Key checks for Peterborough projects

Lead times

Steel systems are fabricated to measure, so allow for survey, drawings, approval and fabrication before the fit date.

Not every steel look is fire-rated

Decorative steel-look aluminium or slim steel partitions sold for offices are not automatically fire-rated. We only fit systems with test or assessment evidence for the classification you need.

Finishes and the rating

Paint and powder coat are normally covered by the evidence, but intumescent strips and seals must not be painted over. We protect them during finishing.

England regulations that shape the job

England Which rules apply?

Building work in England is covered by the Building Regulations 2010, with fire safety guidance in Approved Document B and impact safety guidance for glazing in Approved Document K.

Once a building is in use, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person to maintain fire safety measures, including fire-resisting glazing. The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 add duties for multi-occupied residential buildings, including fire door checks in buildings over 11 metres.

In higher-risk buildings, broadly 18 metres or seven storeys with two or more homes, the Building Safety Regulator is the building control authority. England is also phasing out BS 476 references from Approved Document B, with the remaining fire-resistance references due to go in September 2029.

Questions about steel fire-rated screens in Peterborough

Are Crittall-style screens fire-rated?

Some steel systems with that look are tested for fire, many decorative ones are not. Ask for the classification and test evidence; we only quote tested systems for fire-rated positions.

Can steel fire screens include doors?

Yes. Single, double and in some systems sliding doors can be built into the screen, provided the combination is covered by the evidence.

Can you price steel fire-rated screens in Peterborough from photos?

We can give a guide range from photos and sizes, including a clear photo of any marks on the glass. A fixed price follows a survey.

Do you work on occupied buildings in Peterborough?

Yes. We plan phasing, out-of-hours work and temporary protection so the building can stay in use where the fire strategy allows.
