We design, supply and install fire-rated screens in steel, aluminium, timber and frameless formats, working from the rating and positions on your fire strategy. Every screen is built within the limits of its test or assessment evidence: pane sizes, transom and mullion spacing, glass type and the way it is fixed to the surrounding structure.
Long screens under slabs need deflection heads so floor movement does not crack the glass or open gaps. The head detail has to come from the same evidence as the rest of the screen.
Building guidance limits where integrity-only glazing can sit on protected escape routes, and in some positions restricts it to above a set height from the floor. Insulating screens are not restricted in the same way, so the route plan often decides the glass.
Fire glass can be combined with acoustic or security performance in many systems. We confirm the combined build-up is covered before pricing it.
Coverage around Birmingham includes the B1, B12, B18, B19, B2, B3 districts and nearby Aston, Smethwick, Acocks Green. Birmingham is the main town we cover in West Midlands.
You receive the classification references, glass marks and installation photographs for your fire safety records.
If an existing frame in a Birmingham building has no traceable evidence, we say so and price the options rather than guess.
Every quote in Birmingham identifies the tested system: frame, glass, beads, seals and fixings, within its pane-size limits.
Building work in England is covered by the Building Regulations 2010, with fire safety guidance in Approved Document B and impact safety guidance for glazing in Approved Document K.
Once a building is in use, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person to maintain fire safety measures, including fire-resisting glazing. The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 add duties for multi-occupied residential buildings, including fire door checks in buildings over 11 metres.
Sector guides below cover student accommodation, retail and leisure units and other buildings in Birmingham.
Yes. Many screens are glazed from floor to ceiling, subject to the classification needed on that route and any impact safety requirements at low level.
Small screens are often fitted in a day once manufactured. Larger runs depend on site access and phasing; we agree a programme with you when we quote.
Survey timing in Birmingham depends on access, the size of the building and how urgent the defect is. Tell us your deadline when you enquire and we will confirm a date before you commit.
We can give a guide range from photos and sizes, including a clear photo of any marks on the glass. A fixed price follows a survey.
