Fire-rated glass partitions are office-style glazed walls that are also tested to resist fire, used where a meeting room, corridor wall or reception wall forms part of a protected route or compartment. They look like standard office partitions but use rated frames, glass and seals throughout.
Large glass walls need manifestation so people can see them. Applied film must be compatible with the glass and not cover any marks building control may need to see.
Non-rated partitions on the same floor can be matched in profile and finish.
Demountable systems can be reconfigured, but moving a rated partition means rechecking its evidence and fire-stopping in the new position.
Survey visits can be arranged anywhere in Uxbridge, including the UB8, UB10, SL0, UB9, UB11, HA4 districts, and in nearby Ruislip, Hayes, Gerrards Cross. We cover Uxbridge as part of our Greater London coverage.
If an existing frame in a Uxbridge building has no traceable evidence, we say so and price the options rather than guess.
We can phase work in Uxbridge around residents, staff or pupils, with out-of-hours options.
Designs follow the building and fire safety rules that apply in England, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Building work in England is covered by the Building Regulations 2010, with fire safety guidance in Approved Document B and impact safety guidance for glazing in Approved Document K.
Once a building is in use, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person to maintain fire safety measures, including fire-resisting glazing. The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 add duties for multi-occupied residential buildings, including fire door checks in buildings over 11 metres.
In higher-risk buildings, broadly 18 metres or seven storeys with two or more homes, the Building Safety Regulator is the building control authority. England is also phasing out BS 476 references from Approved Document B, with the remaining fire-resistance references due to go in September 2029.
We can survey and quote for retail and leisure units, healthcare buildings and other building types in Uxbridge.
Only where the fire strategy says the wall is fire-resisting, for example along a protected escape corridor or a compartment line. Many meeting room walls do not need a rating.
