Learn more →If a building in Liverpool needs fire-rated glass floors, the starting point is the rating its fire strategy requires. We confirm that, survey the openings and quote a tested system to suit.

A fire-rated glass floor is a walk-on glazed floor panel, set in a tested support frame, that keeps both its load-bearing capacity and its fire resistance for a stated time. Because a floor carries load, its classification also includes R for load-bearing capacity alongside integrity and insulation.
A glass floor must carry its design load during the fire period. Only systems tested for both should be used.
Glass floors are made to order with longer lead times; we plan early with your contractor.
Horizontal glazing in a fire-rated roof or floor behaves differently from a wall, so wall glass cannot simply be laid flat.
Survey visits can be arranged anywhere in Liverpool, including the L1, L2, L3, L5, L6, L67 districts, and in nearby Birkenhead, Wallasey, Litherland. Liverpool is the main town we cover in Merseyside.
After survey you get a fixed written quote for the agreed scope, so Liverpool budgets are not open-ended.
We can phase work in Liverpool around residents, staff or pupils, with out-of-hours options.
If an existing frame in a Liverpool building has no traceable evidence, we say so and price the options rather than guess.
Building work in England is covered by the Building Regulations 2010, with fire safety guidance in Approved Document B and impact safety guidance for glazing in Approved Document K.
Once a building is in use, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person to maintain fire safety measures, including fire-resisting glazing. The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 add duties for multi-occupied residential buildings, including fire door checks in buildings over 11 metres.
Fire-rated glass floors applies to many building types in Liverpool, including student accommodation and healthcare buildings.
Each system sets maximum panel sizes; larger areas are divided by a supporting grid.
R is load-bearing capacity, E is integrity and I is insulation. A floor needs R because it carries people and loads.
Survey timing in Liverpool depends on access, the size of the building and how urgent the defect is. Tell us your deadline when you enquire and we will confirm a date before you commit.
