A fire-rated glass floor is a walk-on glazed floor panel, set in a tested support frame, that keeps both its load-bearing capacity and its fire resistance for a stated time. Because a floor carries load, its classification also includes R for load-bearing capacity alongside integrity and insulation.
Tested floor panels have maximum spans. Larger openings are divided by a supporting grid.
Obscured or patterned surfaces can be specified within the system for privacy below.
Glass floors are made to order with longer lead times; we plan early with your contractor.
Whether the building is in central Glasgow or the wider G1, G2, G22, G3, G4, G5 districts, we can survey and quote. We also cover Rutherglen, Bishopbriggs, Bearsden. Glasgow is the largest town in our Glasgow coverage.
Every quote in Glasgow identifies the tested system: frame, glass, beads, seals and fixings, within its pane-size limits.
You receive the classification references, glass marks and installation photographs for your fire safety records.
We can phase work in Glasgow around residents, staff or pupils, with out-of-hours options.
In Scotland, building work needs a building warrant under the Building (Scotland) Regulations 2004, with fire guidance in Section 2 of the Building Standards Technical Handbooks rather than Approved Documents.
For relevant premises, the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006 place duties on the duty holder to maintain fire safety measures, which include fire-resisting glazing.
Scottish guidance has its own approach to escape routes and compartmentation, so glazing designs are checked against the Technical Handbooks and the warrant drawings.
We can survey and quote for schools and colleges, blocks of flats and other building types in Glasgow.
