We supply and install fire-rated curtain walling and fire-rated zones within standard curtain walling, alongside the fire-stopping at slab edges. External wall work is closely scrutinised after recent regulatory changes, so every element we fit is backed by evidence for its position.
External walls close to a boundary may need to be fire-resisting with limited unprotected areas. Fixed glazing that meets the wall's full fire-resistance requirement, including insulation where required, is not counted as unprotected area, so it can let you keep glass in those positions.
In England, materials in the external walls of relevant buildings 18 metres or more in height are restricted. We coordinate with the facade designer on every component.
Fire-rated units can still meet thermal targets when specified correctly; we confirm U-values with the system supplier.
Survey visits can be arranged anywhere in Sheffield, including the S1, S2, S3, S4, S7, S11 districts, and in nearby Rotherham, Dronfield, Chapeltown. Sheffield is the main town we cover in South Yorkshire.
After survey you get a fixed written quote for the agreed scope, so Sheffield budgets are not open-ended.
We can phase work in Sheffield around residents, staff or pupils, with out-of-hours options.
Designs follow the building and fire safety rules that apply in England, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Building work in England is covered by the Building Regulations 2010, with fire safety guidance in Approved Document B and impact safety guidance for glazing in Approved Document K.
Once a building is in use, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person to maintain fire safety measures, including fire-resisting glazing. The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 add duties for multi-occupied residential buildings, including fire door checks in buildings over 11 metres.
Fire-rated curtain walling applies to many building types in Sheffield, including offices and public buildings.
