Learn more →Fire-rated curtain walling in Derry / Londonderry is usually needed for one of three reasons: new building work, a change to an existing fire-resisting wall, or defects found in an inspection. We handle all three.

Fire-rated curtain walling is a glazed facade system tested to resist fire, used where an external wall has to stop fire spreading to a neighbouring building, between floors, or past a protected stair or lobby. It combines facade performance, such as weather tightness and thermal values, with a fire classification.
Our County Londonderry coverage takes in Derry / Londonderry (BT47, BT48) and the neighbouring towns of Coleraine, Omagh, Ballymena. Derry / Londonderry is the largest town in our County Londonderry coverage.
External walls close to a boundary may need to be fire-resisting with limited unprotected areas. Fixed glazing that meets the wall's full fire-resistance requirement, including insulation where required, is not counted as unprotected area, so it can let you keep glass in those positions.
External fire glass must be suitable for UV and weather exposure, usually in a sealed double-glazed unit with the fire pane positioned as tested.
Fire-rated units can still meet thermal targets when specified correctly; we confirm U-values with the system supplier.
In Northern Ireland, building work follows the Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012, with fire safety guidance in Technical Booklet E, approved by the district council's building control.
Once in use, the Fire and Rescue Services (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 and the Fire Safety Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 require the appropriate person to maintain fire safety measures, including fire-resisting glazing.
Technical Booklet E sets its own provisions for glazing on escape routes, so designs are checked against the Northern Ireland guidance rather than English documents.
